Fari Bradley

Tuba: Dirty, Dirty Tuba!

Sound Piece: Our Woman’s Word

Fari Bradley is an Iranian-born broadcaster and sound artist with a musical background. Based between London and the Middle East, she is a member of the UK’s independent art-music radio station Resonance104.4 FM, where she promotes art and culture from the Middle East and North Africa through her radio show Six Pillars.

As a composer and improvisational performer, commissions include pieces for London’s Architecture Week, Victoria and Albert Museum, South London Gallery, the Barbican, Art Dubai, Venice Biennal, The British Council, Harpers Art Bazaar and Frieze Projects.

Bradley’s practice charts an interest in the physicality of sound sources and the object or material they come from. “How the body of the tuba, surprisingly sinuous and intricate in places for such a robust instrument, dictates the sound it produces is a point of study. Impermanent marks employ methods of the everyday practice of housework, they might fade in time, a shorter trajectory for every other physical thing, except for sound, which fades the quickest.”
