Bird and me have been slaving over a hot computer for a while now pulling the threads all together to get Fiesta 001 happening at HQ. We have gathered together a brilliant gang of troublemaking women to show their art and tell stories and sell their wares. The idea is to mix up some of the newer women artists and activists with the more established ones and make an afternoon where everyone can relax and have a laugh and make connections. We will have gin cocktails and tea and Sanchia Lovell will be selling food all laden and lavish and there will be some beautiful pieces of work to buy at affordable prices so come down and join in the celebration. The afternoon of Saturday 11th October from 2 – 6pm.
There will be alot going on – short performances and readings from various artists – Viv Albertine from the Slits – Sylvia Ziranek with a new rendition of Whats new Pussycat – Sabrina Mahfouz with her ever brilliant words, Jade Montserratt performing a Josephine Baker piece and the magnificent poet and mistress of tarot Betsy de Lotbiniere. As well as performances we have a dozen or so stalls with artists showing and selling their work including silver work from the political jeweller Mahtab Hanna, disturbing domestic objects from Paula Chambers and displaced body part work from Maryam Mottaghi.
If you come early you might catch Gold Peg out on the street doing some plate tossing and if you come down later you can join the artist Rachael House in smashing the patriarchy. Bad nurse Zanna from the Ragged School will be on duty to serve up evil tasting medicinals.
