Miss Pokeno’s explosive chair work will be featured in the Geffrye Museum show in London beginning next week 2nd – 21st May.
Second Sitters are staging an upholstery takeover at the museum time lining the evolution, highs, lows and new revolution of the craft within the UK.
Curated by practising upholsters Hannah Stanton and Jude Dennis, the exhibition features work from UK based chair workers who are redefining the traditional craft by mixing it up with contemporary thinking and subversive attitudes. Featured works are multi-disciplinary: encompassing furniture, photography and film, tackling activism, social commentary, materiality and throw-away culture.
Live demonstrations and workshops will run alongside the main exhibition so check the Geffrye Museum website for details.
